A Game of two Halves

In what was billed as the final game at BACA to evenly matched sides on paper looked to end the 'theatre of comebacks' era with a victory. After the warmth of last week it was back to the usual chill as a fair Westerly blew across the artificial turf.

Bibs were bang on it first half and Whitey with a great save and Eason off the line from Tricker, keeping the scoreline level as we made the first keeper change at 10 minutes. Here it all went horribly wrong for skins as Lamprell, one of the more shaky keepers had a night to forget between the sticks.

The first goal he couldn't do too much about and was a bit unlucky as Trickers effort struck the post before Rich got the ball tangled in his legs before it trickled over the line. The goals rained in as Lamprell fresh from his stag do could only watch as the net continued to bulge faster than Bill Cosby's trousers. There were a few good finishes and one that went straight through the worst ginger goal keeper since Mike Hooper.

Whitey had earlier equalised for 1-1 but 5-1 at 20 minutes and the game looked up.

Worse was to come Virgo scored the goal of the night after a delicious cross from Tricker was headed home. Then it was Brenchley's turn to go in goal and he let a Greenwood effort go straight through him for 7-1 and it looked like a real beating was on the cards.

Half-timebrought some welcome relief to Skins who re-grouped. It was role-reversal second half as Bibs took a half off and Skins started playing a whole lot better.

Brenchley was pivotal to the comeback and he scored 3 crackers. One set up wonderfully from Lamprell who ran the length of BACA to play in the Winter top scorer. The scorer turned provider when he set up Whitey for his second. He almost assisted Whitey again but he and Bald got in each others way to really put the pressure on.

In the end the theatre of comebacks couldn't quite produce one final hurrah as the game ended 7-5.

MOTM - Jason Mitchell with a resolute display at the back partnered well by his trusty buddy Kev. Perhaps the best partnership since Cagney & Lacey? The Ivorian defender just held of Greenwood for the MOTM bottle of Hoffmeister.
