A Night Of Delight For Greenwood

7/12/2017

It was a night of celebration as 100 cap man Greenwood and his mate Mitchell (without a win in almost four months) claimed a win at a cold and blowy BACA last night.

With the pitch free we were able to get underway at 7:45 and play 9 minutes per keeper with a half time interval.

Early stages suggested this encounter would be even and there was little in the way of goal mouth action as Skins looked the more comfortable in possession. Greenwood stung the hands of Eason after 6 minutes as the big keeper palmed his effort away from goal for a corner.

Hat & Tricker were proving a handful upfront and testing the returning Harley who was making some fine last ditch slides in the first half. The first goal was a cracker Tricker dummying intelligently for Greenwood to lash home for 1-0. It was 2-0 not long after as Skins threatened to run away with things and the Hat tapped home from close range.

Bibs were desperate to get back into the game and when Bahrami set the ball up for Beebee the frontman produced a rasping drive in off the post for 2-1.

With the teams changed round for half time it was turning into a tight game with both teams having chances. Ridley was having a good game at the back with Mitchell Hat & Tricker were linking well.

Bibs looked like they had the advantage with Virgo pushing into midfield and winning some balls but they were picked apart when Wilson lost possession in midfield and the counter allowed Hat to finish for 3-1.

It seemed like Skins were back in control but then Ridley threw the ball out to Green but this was intercepted allowing (bald) to bundle home. There were angry words between Dallinger & Ridley as Skins threatened to implode on Greenwood's big night.

Once again though Bibs conceded a poor goal when Greenwood given the freedom of Falmer finished after a fine ball in from Mitchell.

Harley was showing signs of fatigue and when Bahrami threw the ball to him, he was disposed by Ridley who played in Greenwood who celebrated his 100th cap with a hatrick and MOTM award.

Bibs to their credit continued to fight and they found a glimmer of hope when Hunt scored for 5-3 with just over 10 minutes left. Beebee hit a post and Mitchell made a miraculous save from Hunt to keep the scoreline to 5-3.

Some serious time wasting by Mitchell & Ridley ensured the final minutes were relatively secure with Skins dropping increasingly deep. Eason put an inviting ball into the box which just eluded the heads of Hunt and Beebee as the clock ticked down.

In the end a deserved victory for Skins and a great night for Greenwood despite Beebee forgetting his 100 cap.

MOTM - Danny Greenwood - A fine hatrick and some excellent distribution
