Short & Shit roll back the years

Short and Shit rolled back the years as they repelled all second half Skins attacks to edge a five goal thriller at BACA. For the first time in two matches we saw an even game, which swung one way then the next.

With The Sandwich Man & The Hat arriving a little later than expected we got going just before 19:30. Skins made a sloppy start and they were punished when John the Hat at the 3rd attempt managed to prod home his 5th goal of the campaign.

Bibs were well on top and playing the ball nicely through midfield. It was surprising that Skins weren't able to add to their lead such was their early dominance.

Somewhat against the run of play Whitey got in on goal and finished well for 1-1.

The midfield workhorse soon made it 2-1 after a defensive blunder where Bibs let the ball bounce from a simple hoof upfield from Brenchley. Whitey was on the end to make it 2-1 his 7th of the season to take him level with Beebee for the Summer golden boot.

It was now skins who were flying and Bibs were indebted to a couple of decent Green saves. One of which denied Whitey his hatrick. Skins had other chances but Beebee in particular was finding the Falmer field rather than the goal.

Another goal against the run of play but this time it was Bibs that profited as Tricker's shot which was heading wide hit Mitchell and the ball went in off his back past Brenchley in goal for 2-2.

2-2 at half time and the match was well set for a blistering second half.

Surprisingly the only goal of the 2nd half came when Lamprell tried to nick the ball ahead of Curry but couldn't make it and Curry in red-hot form scored what turned out to be the winning goal and took him level with Beebee & White with 7 goals.

Soon after John the Hat started feeling sick and having chest pains so he decided to jog off the pitch. 8 vs 7 for Skins now and surely they'd make that count but no they couldn't and in fact it was Bibs who looked more likely to hit another.

The Skins numerical advantage lasted all of five five minutes as Beebee injured his ankle going up for a header with Chaz.

7 vs 7 and Skins were now pouring forward. Mitchell who was looking for his 3rd MOTM in a row and two efforts on goal and Brenchley who marshalled well by Short & Shit couldn't hit the target.

With time running out Skins could only force the occasional corner and throw as Bibs held firm and were resolute in their defending.

In the dying moments Greenwood escaped down the left and squared for Virgo with Eason out of his goal. The microscopic defender somehow took an air shot and the ball trickled harmlessly out for a goal kick.

MOTM - Tom Green - Good to see the young lad back in the unfamiliar position of dominant defender. A display reminiscent of Brian Kilcline as he took no prisoners to see his team home to a deserved win.
